Why don’t you join us this Friday (May 29) from 5-7pm for happy hour at MORTON’S THE STEAKHOUSE in Clayton!  It’s the celebrity bartender event to benefit Operation Food Search.  I’ll be joined by Kristen Cornett of News 4. For $25 you can enjoy cocktails, wine, appetizers and that signature Morton steak!  All for a great cause.  There will be door prizes and tons of fun stuff to do.  Operation Food Search provides meals to over 100,000 people a month in St. Louis, nearly half of whom are children.  C’mon…eat, drink and be merry with us this Friday.  I’d love to see you there!

What a great Memorial Day weekend.  I hope you took at least a few moments to ponder what Memorial Day means in America.  It’s not just the start of summer and the BBQ season.  It’s about the brave men and women we’ve lost in the name of freedom.  Whether you believe in war or not,  our troops since the Revolution in 1776 have fought so we could be  free.  It’s a sad fact that man still seems to want a fight…whether it’s over land, religion or politics.  I hate to say it, but it just seems like we have that in our DNA.  Maybe someday…    Meanwhile, I do like to think that when our troops enter the fray, it’s for the right reasons.  We’ve made mistakes in wartime but I still think…more often than not…we do the right thing.   So…a tip of the hat and a solemn bow to the ones who have gone before us so that we can live free in this great country.

My bouncin’ baby boy,  Seamus,  turned 16 this weekend and I took him to the Indianapolis 500 for his birthday.  It was a blast!   Whether you’re a car racing fan or not, I really believe you should experience–once in your life–the moment when 33 Indy race cars take the green flag and go from 135 mph to 225 mph in 4 seconds.  It’s a moment you will never forget.  And TV just doesn’t give it justice.  It was an incredible day, race and birthday for Seamus!    Many more buddy!!!

Hope you had a great weekend!!!!!  Welcome to Summer!!!!  Yipeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

So…a lot of people seem to think that Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of BBQ season.  At our house we barbeque all year long.  We’re like the Post Office of meat cookers…no rain, no sleet, no snow will stop us!  But for those of you who are gearing up for the “official” start of the BBQ season…a few important notes…first of all, remember barbequeing is primarily a man’s job.  It probably has something to do with the danger factor.  We’re talking about fire and sharp utensils here.  Where does the woman fit in?  Well, she buys the food, makes the salad, prepares the vegetables and the dessert and then places the BBQ on a tray next to the man who is sitting next to the grill…with a beer.  Then…this is the important part…the man puts the meat on the grill.  Meanwhile the woman prepares plates, napkins, forks and knives, sauces, etc. and notifies the man that the meat is burning while bringing him another beer.   When the meal is ready, everyone praises the man and thanks him for the incredible BBQ.  He then asks the woman how she enjoyed her “night off” while he did the cooking.  You know…some things never change!  Happy BBQueing! And have a great Memorial Day Weekend!  Be Safe…

This should be a great weekend for anything outside in St. Louis.   Don’t forget to check out Art In the Square if you’re anywhere near Belleville.  Some of the best artists in the country will display their works.  Plus, plenty of stuff for the kids to do there too.  For dog lovers…go bark with the best of them at Bark In The Park at the Lower Muny Parking Lot in forest Park.  Just watch where you step.  Me and the peeps?  We still have some digging in the garden to do and I’ve got to spend more time with the new Bob Dylan album.  It’s incredible!  Also, don’t forget, two weeks from today (May 29th)  I’ll be at Morton’s in Clayton for a special fundraiser for Operation Food Search.  Kristen Cornett from Channel 4 will join me and we’ll be “dueling bartenders” for the evening, making your favorite Martini concoctions.  I DARE you to show up and try one of my Martinis!  Have a great weekend and stay safe!

My Goofey Life

So I know you can relate to this because it happens to all of us.  I get up this morning, get my son off to school,  get my wife a cup of coffee and I’m standing in the driveway looking at my car thinking I might go to the car wash to get all the gooey-yellow-green pollen off that nice paint job, and I notice I’ve got a nail stuck in my tire.  Now if you’ve been a driver for more than 6 minutes, you know that you never pull a nail out of a tire.  NEVER.  So…what to do?  Go get it fixed.  Well…easier said than done.  I spent the next three hours trying to fix a tire that MIGHT go flat.  I finally had to leave the car at the dealership and take a rental…a 20-foot long panel van that seats 15 people.  Woo-hoo!  And the wheels on the bus go round and round…So how was your day…?

Thanks for playing “Right back where we started from” by Maxine Nightengale! It’s great song for your format. I hope you play it more often.

I like the changes in the songs you play. It’s a better variety!

We lived in the Farmington area for three years and listened to your station all the time and loved it, we moved back to Kansas due to the poor economy and miss the area tremendously, but still listen to your station live on the computer whenever we are home. Keep up the good work you all do an outstanding job for the whole area! We miss listening to your station all the time!
